Kia ora and welcome to Mata Brewery! Since 2005 our small, family-owned brewery has been led by passionate Head Brewer, Tammy. Over the years we’ve mastered the art and craft of brewing and spread our magic with multiple awards.

Our family friendly bar and restaurant is a much-loved casual gathering place for Whakatāne locals and visitors alike. With a selection of 12 taps and several packaged options, there is a wide variety of beer and cider to satisfy every taste.

Try one of our tasting trays or grab a glass of your favourite. For those non beer and cider drinkers, wine and a good selection of non-alcoholic and low alcohol drinks are available too. Keen to take some favourites home with you? Choose from a fresh rigger fill or browse our fridge for our selection of cans and bottles.

There’s no need to worry about hunger pangs, Mama G’s Kitchen is on site to delight you with a range of delicious street food options.

While we started with beer, Mata has grown into a diverse beverage house where everything – from our award-winning beers and ciders to our modern RTDs and sodas – is handcrafted right here in Whakatāne.

Mata is the place to be entertained in Whakatane!
